Join us at 4A for a platter painting experience with Anney Bounpraseuth!

Inspired by Anney Bounpraseuth’s artwork in A Soft Touch, participants will paint a ceramic fruit platter with “exotic” Asian fruits in a simple folk art style.

At the heart of this workshop lies the profound symbolism of the biblical tale of the forbidden fruit, famously known for its connection to the Garden of Eden and the eternal allure of knowledge. While some religious beliefs associate it with the concept of original sin and "immoral pleasure," Anney's artwork draws from her former faith tradition, where the forbidden fruit represented the divine sovereignty in discerning right from wrong. Through her art, she celebrates the existence of numerous unforbidden fruits, embodying the concept of diverse paths and the freedom to choose our own way of life. Furthermore, her work highlights the immense power of generosity and goodness towards others.

As you embark on this journey, indulge your senses with a delectable selection of Asian fruits thoughtfully displayed on the platter. Sample these delightful treasures while discovering their names in both English and Lao, allowing yourself to be embraced by the linguistic tapestry that unites cultures and fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of diversity.

This workshop also pays homage to the Asian tradition of sharing fruit as a gesture of love and hospitality.

Please register to join us and experience the warmth and genuine connection that arises when we share something as simple and beautiful as a piece of fruit, transcending cultural boundaries and fostering a sense of community.

We’re excited to welcome you.

Note: All painting materials will be provided, and you get to take your work home!
