Suffering from acute kidney failure, Uncle Boonmee has chosen to spend his final days surrounded by his family in the countryside. Together with his loved ones – including the ghost of his deceased wife, and his long lost son who has returned home in a non-human form – Boonmee contemplates the reasons for his illness as he treks through the jungle with his family to the birthplace of his first life.
