As the first of two awardees selected for the 2026 4A LAB Emerging Digital Artist Program, Aileen Ng will present her solo exhibition FITM: Faith in the Machine at 4A LAB from 24 September to 4 October.

FITM: Faith in the Machine is a collection of works centred on themes of perception, memory and human-machine relationships. It explores how qualities such as anthropomorphism, embodiment, temporality and ambiguity shape how we perceive technology. Considering the ways in which we project meaning, intention and agency onto these systems, and how these projections influence what we expect from them.

The exhibition considers the role of technology in processes of perception, interpretation and recollection. Through photographs and digital archives, machines capture, classify and organise traces of the world in ways that differ from our experience. Yet memory is not a fixed record, but something repeatedly reconstructed through fragments and changing perspectives. As we increasingly rely on technology to perceive and remember on our behalf, the exhibition asks how these systems interpret what is preserved and how this shapes the ways we construct our memory of the past.
