Xia Han
Xia Han born in 1993 in Shanghai, where he currently lives and works. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from East China Normal University in 2016 and a Master of Fine Arts from Chelsea College of Arts in 2019. Xia's artistic practice centers on the ethical implications of technology, particularly within the realms of computer games and consumer culture. He predominantly utilises game engines and video as mediums, constructing virtual landscapes that explore themes of utopia, dystopia, desire, and loss.
Xia Han is also the founder of 33ml Offspace, an independent artist-run space established in Shanghai in 2020. 33ml Offspace is dedicated to experimental and non-commercial projects by young artists, fostering critical discourse and exchange within China’s contemporary art ecosystem. The space serves as a platform for emerging voices to engage with alternative narratives, digital interventions, and transdisciplinary experimentation outside institutional and market-driven frameworks.
