Oryx is a Vietnamese dancer, choreographer and teacher from Western Sydney. Oryx is pulled towards ugliness, unexpectedness, geometry, creating emotional landscapes and bringing art into the everyday classroom. For nearly 10 years Oryx has been performing and teaching in both commercial and community QTBIPOC spaces. They are drawn to pushing and questioning: What is dance? What is art? Where does resistance lie in this? What is beautiful/sexy/ugly/musical/noise? What is entertainment? What is indulgent? What is performativity or authenticity?
