黑芝麻 (Hēi zhī ma) [they/she] a sound artist based on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country. A master of building emotion and narrative within their sets, 黑芝麻 weaves spoken word, poetry, and film samples into multi-genre soundscapes with elements of experimental ambient, pop/RnB, jungle, and trance/techno. They draw on topics of cultural identity and belonging, sensuality, and queer longing. In their other project, 莎瑜 (ShaYu), 黑芝麻 works alongside poet Zhi Yi Cham, creating work focusing on coming to terms with queerness, queerness in the context of cultural identity and love.
